This position is ideal for a young graduate or Junior Engineer in the area of Mechanics, Michromecanics or Electronics, and willing to develop his/her skills in a highly dynamic and international environment. For our client Philip Morris SA in Neuchâtel, we are seeking an:


Associate Engineer Design Verification

1 year contracted assignment at 100%


A key objective of Philip Morris International Inc. (PMI RRP) is to develop and assess products with the potential to reduce the risks of smoking-related diseases. This project is at the core of our business: our aim is that one day all adult smokers who otherwise wouldn?t quit will switch to what we call reduced-risk products, or RRPs.The Design Verification team, part of Electronic Device group at Philip Morris R&D in Neuchâtel, supports PMI?s core business objectives. The team is currently looking for a Junior Engineer (preferably in Mechanics / Micromechanics or Electronics) to support daily work activities. The role of the chosen candidate will be to perform experimental work using the State-of-the-Art analytical equipment for defect investigation and root cause analyses. Additionally, as well run test in regards of the design verification of our new product. The work will also include: to perform experiments for method development and validation purposes, consolidate raw data going to be used by the Subject Matter Expert, issue investigation report and collaborate closely with other PMI R&D department.


These are the tasks that await you:


  • Plan and execute activities for the Design Verification as well as failure investigation activities on Reduced Risk Products (RRP) through the application of scientific/engineering skills and knowledge
  • Support the project leader for various project activities 
  • Collect, generate and review data
  • Generate Design Verification reports 
  • Complete short-term activities 
  • Perform samples collection and trigger failure investigation on defective device units, with SME support 
  • Perform samples preparation for various purposes
  • Support method validation process with laboratory activity and data collection
  • Support and coordinate Testing Order submission 
  • Issue investigation and/or analysis reports
  • Ability to collaborate easily with other PMI R&D departments
  • Ability to deal with high priority requests


  • BSc Or MSc degree in Mechanics or Micromechanics with good knowledge of Electronics
  • Fluidity in English & French: written and spoken
  • Proficiency in MS Word and Excel as well as PC skills
  • Capability to use laboratory instrumentation, no specific skills required
  • Fast learner
  • Reporting, planning, organization skills
  • Start date: as soon as possible
