job description

This is cool. Our client is looking to welcome a Product Owner for their team on the web development front. You'll be supported by a young and open minded management team, and will be responsible for 6 developers as your project team. You'll be supported by a Head of Projects and some of the nicest people I know in the agency world.  The company produces websites and products for some of the big names in Switzerland (and elsewhere) and you'll have a lot of variety to work on, from projects for logistics companies, to possibly the website design and build for events which are shown on TV to millions. See, told you it was cool. All of this in a company of around 50 people in several boutique offices in a number of countries.

The company know how to look after their employees too. So on top of your salary and the best coffee machine this side of the Limmat, you'll be given a hardware budget for yourself every 2 years, a yearly sports budget for you to buy a new bicycle, or join a gym, or a goped (please don't) and a budget which you may put towards education and/or personal development. Maybe you want to learn a new tech, or a new language.. it's covered.

In this role you'll be usually looking after 2 big projects for clients, usually lasting 6 months to 2 years depending on the scope and needs. You'll also be responsible for the support and maintenance of 2-4 products which have already been released but every now and again need some minor support or new functionalities added.

The role:

  • Lead the development team on projects
  • Be the point of contact for the customer - This means you should be someone which can explain technical topics with people like me. (in the sense of the less jargon the better)
  • Develop strategy and process for your team when you see a chance for improvements
  • Create and manager user journeys
  • Some support every-so-often on pre-sales

You:

  • Experience leading/managing projects in an Agile Environment
  • You hold a good understanding of web development and its technologies. You don't need to be a developer, you won't be coding, but knowledge is important
  • You can explain complex tech situations to lay-people
  • Strong knowledge of German and English
  • You are structured, organised, and are a calming influence (basically, don't have a desk like me)

This role would suit someone which has led some projects in the past from a junior point of view and would like to make the move up to a leadership role. Or maybe you are someone that is interested in working for a smaller, more personal firm where you can give your career a kick start. This would suit you too.  Unfortunately, due to Swiss Employment Law we will only be able to consider applications from citizens of EU-25 countries, or those already holding a Swiss Work Permit, or the Swiss of course.

That's all for now folks, have a good day!  Matt
