Junior Engineer/Scientist

Location: Neuchatel, Switzerland

Contract: 1 year with possibility of extension

Start date: 01.06.2017

This position is responsible to operate, maintain, and further advance company's current on-line FTIR aerosol analysis systems. This requires an interdisciplinary collaboration between product development and product testing. Knowledge in electronics and/or aerosol physics would help testing our RRPs in a proof of concept/verification phase which includes the operation of supportive test equipment to control and monitoring of e.g. electronic device operation parameter. Experience in experimental electronic/chemical lab work and method optimization is the basis to further advance the existing online test setups by e.g. developing and applying calibrations, automated online data evaluation and reporting tools as part of this position.

Responsibilities:

  • Operate, maintain and further improve online FTIR gas analysis system to ensure a fast but reliable quantitative aerosol characterization of RRP prototypes
  • Generate aerosol from RRPs under different generation regimes
  • Operate supportive test equipment to control and monitor e.g. critical electronic device operation parameter defined by the product development teams
  • Identify and quantify RRP aerosol constituents on a puff-to-puff basis using FTIR gas analysis technology
  • Ensure and verify the quality of the FTIR quantification results by applying and further improving adequate calibration processes
  • Enhance automated online data evaluation and support reporting
  • Act as the FTIR system owner being responsible for service, maintenance calibration incl. documentation according to Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) standards.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Bachelor’s or University degree in engineering or science preferable chemical or industrial engineering, physics, chemistry or equivalent
  • Solid knowledge in physics, engineering and analytical chemistry ideally in depth knowledge in spectroscopic methods
  • Experience in experimental electronic/chemical lab work and method optimization
  • Experience in automated data evaluation, data bases, etc.
  • Interest/Experiences in electronics and/or aerosol physics
  • Good documentation skills
  • Rapid learning and grapping new things quickly
  • Well-structured working habits
  • Good communication and organizational skills
  • Languages: English (good speaking & writing), French an asset
