For a tobacco company in Neuchâtel, we are seeking a:

Metabolomics Lead Technician

Location: Neuchâtel

Contract: open ending

The successful candidate will join the Biomarkers & Biosensors Research team.

As a lead technician, you will assist in the development of targeted and untargeted methods using either gas or liquid chromatography coupled to mass spectrometric detection (both for targeted quantitative and untargeted metabolomics analyses). Perform routine analyses of various metabolomics projects according to business priorities.


  • Responsible for the routine analysis of untargeted metabolomics projects.
  • Maintain the lab activities according to ISO 17025 and GcP quality and environmental health safety standards.

  • Evaluation of data consistency through high quality standards (QCs, internal standards,…).

  • Periodic maintenance of laboratory equipment (pipettes, balance, fridge, freezer,…).

  • Maintain reference standard chemicals (ordering, inventory) and consumables.

  • Participation in writing work instructions and standard operating procedures.

Skills and Competencies:

  • CFC in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Analytical Chemistry or at least 3-years' experience in academic and/or industry.
  • Proven hands-on experience in bioanalytical method development, validation and sample analysis using GC- and/or LC-MS(/MS) techniques.

  • Experience in untargeted metabolomics (biological sample preparation, analysis, data processing).

  • Practical experience of advanced hyphenated mass spectrometric techniques including high resolution accurate mass.

  • Good knowledge of biological sample preparation prior to GC- and/or LC-MS analysis.

  • Open-minded and team player.

  • Fluent in English both writing and speaking would be a plus.
