Physicist/Engineer/Scientist Aerosol Technologies

Contract: 1 year with possibility of extension

Location: Neuchatel, CH

The candidate will be part of the Testing Engineering team within the Manufacturing Science & Technology department, based in Neuchâtel, Switzerland. You will be responsible to develop, further advance, test, and support the aerosol analysis systems based on spectroscopy. The position will be embedded in a team of scientists, engineers and technicians working on testing technologies and will require interdisciplinary collaboration with different R&D teams and external service provider. Knowledge in aerosol physics, electronics and/or mechanics will be fundamental for testing of the produtcs during the technology proof of concept, verification and qualification phase.

Experience in experimental electronic/chemical lab work and method optimization will be required to further advance the existing test setups by e.g. developing and applying calibrations, automated data evaluation and reporting tools.


  • Further develop, advance, and maintain aerosol analysis systems to ensure a fast but reliable quantitative aerosol characterization of product prototypes
  • Provide creative solutions for efficient aerosol generation, transportation and characterization systems
  • Operate supportive test equipment to control and monitor equipment and product parameters 
  • Compile, evaluate and prepare experimental data for documentation and presentation 
  • Enhance automated data evaluation and reporting tools 
  • Guide and coordinate external service provider for mechanical, electronic and automation support

Skills and Competencies:

  • Master degree in physics/physical chemistry/engineering or equivalent
  • Solid theoretical and practical knowledge mechanics, electronics and physical chemistry ideally in depth knowledge in spectroscopy and/or aerosol technology
  • Experience in experimental electronic/chemical lab work and method optimization
  • Experience in automated data evaluation, data bases, etc.
  • Strong problem solving capabilities, creativity and efficient communication and documentation skills
  • Proven capacity of interdisciplinary and customer oriented working habits
  • Fluent in English, French desired
