For our client, an international pharma company based in Basel, we are looking for a Principal Associate in Drug Delivery and Preformulation Sciences.

The position is located in Preclinical Chemistry, Manufacturing and Controls (pCMC), a department within the pRED Therapeutics Modalities organization, where we pave the path to bring drug candidates from early research into development in a diverse, ambitious and innovative environment. We collaborate actively with our discovery and development partner functions providing cutting-edge technologies and scientific excellence to transform molecules into future medicines.
Our team “Drug Delivery and Preformulation Sciences” is involved in all phases of a project across the value chain from project idea until launch providing pre-formulation know-how and sound scientific expertise in the pharmaceutical profiling of new drug candidates and drug delivery.

Tasks & Responsibilities:
  • Physical and chemical characterization of new chemical entities (synthetic molecules and peptides) by using analytical tools like DSC, TGA, polarization microscope, DVS
  • Performing UPLC analytics incl. method development
  • Determination of solubility and stability according to established best practices
  • Formulation development and supplies for peroral and parenteral preclinical studies
  • Documentation in eLN
  • Self-reliant lab and work organisation, direct exchange and interaction with internal team members and cross-departmental customers in Medicinal Chemistry, Pharmacology and DMPK/Tox


Must Haves:
  • Apprenticeship or Bachelor or Master in Pharmaceutics or Analytics
  • Min. 3 years of experience in Preformulation, Analytics and/or Formulation Development as associate or (junior) scientist
  • Good understanding of pharmaceutically relevant excipients and various dosage forms like solutions, suspensions, emulsions, polymer stabilized amorphous systems
  • Background in chromatography (UPLC), formulation development, sound scientific lab practices, clean, tidy and accurate work
  • Advanced English skills
  • Google platforms, Microsoft Office skills
  • Team player, advanced communication skills not only with peers, but also with internal and external stakeholders, well organized, self-reliant, flexible, passionate, positive attitude


Nice to Have:
  • Language: German
  • IT: Empower, confident to learn on eLNs (e,g, IDBS)
  • Interest in Digitalization and Automation
  • Experience in advanced Drug Delivery Technologies
