For our Microbiome team we are looking for an open-minded, motivated team player with a strong background in microbial fermentation and lyophilization. As part of the USP Development & Investigation team you will be involved in characterization and development activities of API manufacturing processes from shake flask to 10L bench scale system.

 

This includes but is not limited to the following responsibilities:

  • Development, transfer and qualification/validation of molecular and bio assays as well as microbiological test procedures
  • Writing of test instructions/protocols for methods in scope
  • Writing of development, qualification and validation plans and reports
  • Independent rework of experiments/analyses based on interpretations and conclusions
  • Maintenance of laboratory equipment and operation of analytical and other instruments
  • Execution of assigned scientific experiments and writing tasks with low level of supervision
  • Review of scientific work in project-related fields and areas of expertise
  • Ensuring availability of adequate laboratory materials and justification for purchase of new materials and equipment
  • Active collaboration and interaction with various team leaders, scientists and laboratory technicians and across departments

qualification

Requirements:

  • Msc/PhD level in biology, biochemistry or equivalent
  • Scientific background with an analytical mindset for analysis, interpretation and reporting of obtained results
  • Excellent writing skills for scientifically sound technical documents
  • Independent way of working and taking ownership of assigned tasks to plan and deliver according to agreed timelines
  • Your team spirit allows you to integrate well into an existing team and you ideally have experience in supporting and supervising the work of laboratory analysts
  • Experience with GMP is an asset
  • Fluency in English / German is an asset

This role based in Bern, Switzerland will initially be limited to approx. 12 months, with an option for extension or permanent contract.
