Are you up for a new challenge? For a long-term temporary assignment in the Method Portfolio Maintenance team of our client, the company Philip Morris, based in Neuchâtel, we are seeking a:

Associate Physical engineer - Methods Portfolio Maintenance

Contracted open-ended assignment at 100%

The candidate will join the Method Portfolio Maintenance team within Central Analytical laboratories (CAL) in Philip Morris R&D. The main objective of the team is to support the analytical and physical laboratories within CAL by developing and validating new physico-chemical and/or physical and/or analytical methods used in the context of the assessment and development of Reduced Risk Products (RRPs).The candidate will mainly contribute and participate to the development and validation of physical methods used to characterize physical properties of materials/components used in Reduced Risk Products.

Your tasks:

  • Lead method development projects in close collaboration with the testing engineering team in charge of developing new equipment for the method needs
  • Validate the physical methods according to internal procedures
  • Plan and organize the projects in collaboration with the laboratory supervisors by providing detailed schedule about required resources and timelines.
  • Provide technical support to laboratory technicians to ensure timely and accurate release of data during the development/validation process.
  • Generate relevant documents related to the validation process (validation protocol, validation report and development reports).
  • Apply in depth data analysis to ensure the assessment plan integrity.
  • Propose and implement ideas to continuously improve quality and efficiently.
  • Collaborate with scientists and engineers within PMI and act as subject matter expert for knowledge and method transfer to affiliates' laboratories.


Skills and competencies:

  • Education: Degree in Mechanical or Materials Engineering or equivalent skillsthrough demonstrated experience (Bachelor or Master level or equivalent).
  • Work experience: 2-5 years of experience in the required field through demonstrated experience/education. Experience in laboratory environment and in standards applied in laboratories (ISO 17025; ICH Q2; FDA, guideline for the validation of analytical methods). Experience in method validation.
  • Experience in techniques to evaluate the mechanical properties of materials(strength, electrical, magnetic, imaging, others).
  • Fluency in English and French required.
  • Strong PC skills; proficient in MS Office tools and Laboratory Informatio Management Systems (LIMS).
  • Strong analytical and learning capability as well as productive work habits, creative thinking and quality oriented.
