For an international tobacco company in Neuchâtel, we are seeking a:

Associate Scientist

Location: Neuchâtel

Contract: open ending

Responsibilities:

  • Understand business needs and propose relevant action plan to serve needs.

  • Perform independently analysis in line with developed methods committing in quality and reliability of measurements delivered.

  • Contribute significantly with minimum supervision to method development, validation or optimization ensuring data are clearly, concisely and securely recorded.

  • Maintain, operate and troubleshoot GC-MS instruments and other analytical equipment.

  • As author, write work instructions (WKIs), Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s), validation documentations, scientific plans and reports.

  • Interact with external suppliers to maintain analytical equipment and ensure state of the art technology knowledge within laboratories.

  • Perform all duties according to quality guidelines and EHS policies.

  • Communicate on results with stakeholders and scientific community (internally/externally).

 

Skills and Competencies:

  • We are looking for an Associate Scientist, with the following requirements:

  • University degree in chemistry, analytical chemistry or equivalent qualification

  • Knowledge in method development, validation and sample analysis using GC-MS techniques

  • Practical experience of advanced mass-spectrometric techniques including high resolution

  • MS, GC-Q-TOF and MS/MS

  • Knowledge on quantification of target compounds

  • Knowhow of compound identification (proposed structure) based on mass spectrum interpretation

  • Good knowledge of quality regulations (ISO17025)

  • Experience with flavor analysis would be advantageous

  • Mass-spectrometric software and database management skills would be an asset

  • Practical experience with sample extraction techniques,

  • Fluency in both spoken and written English
