Our client (Life sciences) located in Basel is looking for an energetic, self-motivated, and dynamic team-oriented

Business Development Director (Life Science)

 who has a desire to help our client to continue to develop its business locally in Switzerland and internationally with the close focus on the DACH region within the life science marketplace.  Director of Business Development shall display high levels of energy and drive and thrive under pressure.  The successful candidate shall have excellent interpersonal communication skills and strong leadership/coordination acumen for aggressively identifying, prospecting, developing and securing business opportunities to support new revenue growth in the region. Candidate should be a collaborative team player, and have a strong drive to bring in new revenue opportunities with DACH-region biotech, biopharma and laboratory clients.

Our Client is a privately-held company with a 30+ year history of providing design and construction solutions to the global pharmaceutical and life-science company. Founded in 1984, Our client currently has over 1,000 employees and 15 offices. They invests heavily in employee professional development and in maintaining an entrepreneurial culture. Currently they are looking to build a professional design team in their newly-established office (and subsidiary) in Basel.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Identify and contact prospects, generate leads
  • Target potential clients and expand current clients, in multiple business sectors and geographies, according to the business plans of the office
  • Organize, lead, communicate and coordinate the efforts of team-based business development activities to drive a whole-office effort toward developing new business
  • Mentor junior seller-doer staff and train them to be good business development support staff
  • Participate in all aspects of the development and sales process to drive to a successful conclusion
  • Coordinate and support Marketing Staff to organize and attend tradeshows and networking events to maintain/improve firm visibility
  • Coordinate and collaborate with other Business Development Directors throughout the client's network
  • Develop and produce monthly activity reports
  • Evaluate local, regional and national competition and identify their strengths and weaknesses
  • Collaborate with Marketing team to launch and execute marketing campaigns
  • Assist in the development of business plans and strategic direction regarding business development
  • Prepare, maintain, and report upon annual the Business Development budget
  • Maintain high client satisfaction personally and for the company at all times
  • Moderate to frequent travel within region required
  • Set up introductory/follow-up meetings and communication with targeted clients
  • Manage relationships, or coordinate other’s efforts to manage relationships, with core and key clients with the goal of winning work

Qualifications:

  • Diplom-Ingenieur in Engineering, Business Administration, Economics or Business Engineering
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in the Life Sciences (Bio, Pharma) Market
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in Business Development/ Sales associated with CH-based Life Sciences Engineering, Construction firms
  • Strong leadership/coordination ability in matrixed environment
  • Language: Fluent in German (C2+technical language), ability to communicate in English (B2+) of French (B2+) is a plus
  • Valid Work Permit for Basel, Switzerland, or able to obtain a permit
  • Experience with CRM tools and business development methods
