For our client, an international company in Solothurn we are looking for 
Project Safety Lead
 
  • Start date: ASAP
  • End:  31.12.2023  
  • Extension: possible

The Project Safety Lead executes safety programs at the Production Site in Solothurn associated with Capital Projects The position provides daily oversight of relevant safety programs including Commissioning Safety, Pre Startup Safety Review, Confined Spaces, Working at Height, Log Out Tag Out, JHA, Hot Work, Machine Guarding, Electrical Safety, Explosion Protection, Contractor Management and Work Permits. In addition, this function plays a critical role regarding EHS inspections, emergency response and EHS training.
Solothurn site is a large scale biologics manufacturing operation with significant physical, chemical and ergonomics risks associated with everyday operations.
The individual is responsible for assessing and mitigating risks at the Solothurn site to minimize lost time due to injuries, illness or business interruptions in relation to Capital Project scopes with a supporting role to Operations



Tasks & Responsibilities:
  1. Develops and implements site specific procedures in terms of Commissioning Safety, Pre Startup Safety Review, Confined Spaces, Working at Height, Log Out Tag Out, JHA, Hot Work, Machine Guarding, Electrical Safety, Explosion Protection, Contractor Management and Work Permits.
  2. Provides EHS training and ensures that above mentioned procedures are followed in daily operations.
  3. Performs Hazard Situation, Near Miss and Incident Investigations, Root Cause Analysis, Job Hazard Assessments, Risk Assessments, Process Safety Assessments, HAZOPs, Regular EHS Walks and EHS Inspections and takes care for the follow-up of myEHS reports.
  4. Creates and promotes Safety Awareness Program and supports Safety Culture Program.
  5. Participates in EHS Management System related activities including annual risk assessment of site-based activities, defining training and communication strategies, developing meaningful performance metrics, performing program audits and managing EHS related events.
  6. Ensures CAPAs and root causes are appropriate and closed in a timely manner.

Must Haves:
  • B.S. in life sciences, safety, environmental or other similar field required
  • 10 years of environment, health and safety experience, preferably in the life science industries.
  • Professional certification (Certified Safety Professional, Safety Engineer, EHS Engineer, Certified Industrial Hygienist or similar country-specific designations) is required.
  • Must be able to work independently and make routine decisions related to complex EHS issues and program content.
  • Advanced interpersonal skills focused on collaboration, innovation, inclusion and communication required.
  • In depth knowledge of safety related legislation.
  • Experience in terms of implementation of safety procedures and programs required.
  • Advanced knowledge of EHS Management Systems, technical programs and swiss regulations required.
  • In-depth knowledge of drug development process with particular emphasis on large scale bioprocessing highly desirable.
  • English and German is a must.
  • Skilled presented and speaker; presents in professional settings; excellent writing skills.
