For an international tobacco company in Neuchâtel, we are seeking a:

Associate chemical scientist

Location: Neuchâtel

Contract: open ending

The candidate will mainly contribute and participate to the development and validation of

analytical methods used to characterize the substrate and/or aerosol chemistry of

Company’s products.


  • Lead new analytical method development projects to support the development of products.

  • Validation the analytical method according to internal procedures

  • Plan and organize the projects in collaboration with the laboratory supervisors by providing detailed schedule about required resources and timelines.

  • Work in close collaboration with the scientists and laboratory staff within the Testing Laboratories team.

  • Provide technical support to laboratory technicians to ensure timely and accurate release of analytical data during the development/validation process.

  • Generate relevant documents related to the validation process (validation protocol, validation report and improvement reports).

  • Apply in depth data analysis to ensure the experimental plan integrity.

  • Perform maintenance/troubleshooting in analytical instruments.

  • Collaborate with scientists and engineers within the company and act as subject matter expert for knowledge and method transfer to affiliates’ laboratories, when necessary.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Education: Degree in Analytical Chemistry with relevant experience in gas and liquid chromatography (GC-FID/TCD, GC-MS, LC-MSMS)

  • Work experience: 2-5 years of experience in the required field through demonstrated experience/education.

  • Knowledgeable in method development and validation (ICH guidelines)

  • Previous experience in accredited or certified laboratories (ISO, GLP)

  • Strong analytical and learning capability as well as productive work habits, creative thinking and quality oriented

  • Experience in working as part of a team and demonstrated excellent interpersonal and communication skills

  • Fluency in English and French required

  • Strong PC skills; proficient in MS Office tools and Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS)

A valid Swiss work permit or Swiss or EU-25/EFTA citizenship is required for this position
