Our client, a leading international company, with seven of world's top 15 brands, including the world's number one brand is looking for a 

Data Scientist

Location: Neuchatel, Switzerland
Contract: 1 year  with possibility of extension

Start date: asap 

Responsibilities:

  • Working closely with other scientists, prepare large Systems Toxicology datasets to share with the community (e.g. on the INTERVALS platform (intervals.science), or on pubic repositories such as ArrayExpress or GEO.
  • Select, process, analyze, and visualize data such as Transcriptomics, Lipidomics, Genomics
  • Develop scientific challenges to be open to the crowd, including formulation of the scientific questions, preparation of the datasets, development and application of a scoring strategy
  • Develop, in collaboration with other scientists, scientific communications material ranging from abstracts to articles, posters, and videos.
  • Engage with key scientific stakeholders worldwide (through travel and electronic conferencing).
  • Perform testing of bioinformatics software applications as applicable to the relevant systems biology data modalities.
  • Function as a member of a multidisciplinary program team which executes scientifically challenging projects.
  • Some travel to conferences and the Challenge symposiums to be expected
  • Contact with scientists and key stakeholders while attending the Challenge booth at conferences may be required

Requirements:

  • Masters in data science, bioinformatics, or Computational Biology with working experience of 3-5 years
  • Organized and dynamic team player with a positive and proactive attitude.
  • Ability to organize and realize multiple tasks on a tight/changing schedule.
  • Good programming skills in R mandatory and additional languages nice to have.
  • Knowledge in new generation sequencing is a plus
  • Fluent English (spoken & written)
  • Candidates should submit a letter of motivation and include examples of systems biology-related activities in which they were the main contributors.
  • Preference might be given to candidates who are able to write one or two paragraphs that show their understanding about the sbv IMPROVER project and explain how their previous experience is linked to the project concepts.
