For our client, a pharmaceutical company in Basel we are looking for a

Scientific Researcher

Start date:  03.05.2021 or latest June 2021Contract: 1 year, with the possibility of extensionRemote/Home Office: No – fully onsite in lab

Tasks & Responsibilities:

  • Responsible and accountable for end-to-end sample management activities, request evaluation and set up. This includes request intake and collaboration with the stakeholder, ensuring samples are received, accessioned, tracked, stored, database setup, Electronic Packing List (EPL) upload, perform data quality checks on the EPL upload and associated query resolution in a timely manner and according to protocol requirements, Pharma Biosample Services best practices and GCP requirements
  • Coordinates and conducts manual and/or automated sample processing workflows (e.g. aliquoting, pooling, extracting DNA/RNA, providing GSA data, etc..) for various sample types
  • Coordinates and conducts in-process QC methods to assess quality of samples
  • Responsible for supporting method development, qualification and implementation
  • Identify issues with data generated, anomalies, interpretation
  • Responsible for coordinating and conducting laboratory process optimization, proof-of-concept, and/or validation


  • BSc/MSc or equivalent degree and 3 years relevant industry experience (*****)
  • Experience in the use of LIMs and related sample data handling
  • Proficiency in basic and more specialized/emerging sample processing methods, including nucleic acid handling and analysis
  • Familiarity with GLP/GCP requirements and awareness of the ethical considerations for the use of biological samples
  • Scientific expertise combined with computational skills in relation to biological sample storage and processing
  • Ability to design, execute and analyze complex sets of experiments or procedures and to recommend solutions when facing challenges
  • Demonstrated experience in utilizing a variety of analytical platforms and instrumentation (such as liquid handling and automation, automated nucleic acid purification solutions, microarray scanner)
  • Experience assessing, tracking and fulfilling research customer needs on an operational level in an efficient and timely way with a high degree of customer orientation and ability to communicate with stakeholders on multiple levels


Nice to have:


  • Experience with Microarray or Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) is a plus
  • Prior experience with Microarray or Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS)
  • Ability to understand complex scientific and technical challenges and recommend solutions

Candidates based in Switzerland or those with a valid Swiss work permit are preferred.
