About the job:
The Pharma Engineering Solutions department is seeking a MES Engineer for the Basel location. The team offers professional engineering services to internal clients / plant operators in Research & Development, Launch & Commercial Manufacturing, as well as Packaging, Warehousing, and Logistics across the Basel and Kaiseraugst sites. Generally, the responsibilities include the planning, implementation, and operational engineering of production facilities in their respective areas. With the MES team, they support production at Basel Biotech Manufacturing and Basel Small Molecule Manufacturing. In addition to supporting ongoing production, the MES team is responsible for the further development of MES systems.
The Ideal Candidate:
The ideal candidate profile features a completed degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, along with at least 3 years of professional experience as a System Engineer supporting MES systems. Required is a deep understanding of IT architectures and Data Integrity, combined with sound knowledge of GMP, Compliance, and Computer System Validation (CSV). This profile is completed by confidence in creating risk analyses and validation documents, an independent and customer-oriented way of working, as well as business-fluent German and good English skills.
Tasks & Responsibilities:
- Document management within the MES team, i.e., creating the necessary documentation and ensuring that SOPs and risk analyses are up to date.
- Administration and operation of the MES system. This includes error analysis, troubleshooting, and on-call service.
- Analyze new requirements for the MES system and assist in implementing an optimal solution.
- Collaboration and support in Change Control Management and qualification/validation activities according to internal guidelines.
Must Haves:
- Completed degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a comparable field
- At least 3 years of professional experience as a System Engineer and experience supporting MES systems
- Broad understanding of Data Integrity requirements and IT architecture
- Sound knowledge regarding GMP, Compliance, and Computer System Validation
- Experience and motivation for creating documents and risk analyses, as well as document management
- Very good German and good English language skills are required
- Customer- and result-oriented, a team player with very good communication and organizational skills
- Enthusiasm and an independent, customer-oriented approach to work
Nice to Haves:
- Knowledge of Siemens Simatic IT MES / Siemens OpCenter Pharma MES
- Knowledge of automation systems (Siemens PCS7)
- Knowledge of PI / OSIsoft
- Experience supporting MES systems for the automated production of biotechnological products
