Purpose of the Assignment
The Interim Head of Logistics leads and develops the logistics organisation at the Hinwil site. The role ensures the efficient, safe, and compliant execution of all logistics processes and is responsible for quality, delivery performance, and costs across goods receipt, warehousing, order picking, disposal, and shipping.
The position also ensures accurate inventory management and the availability and continuous improvement of technical logistics systems and processes.
Main Responsibilities
- Lead, motivate, and develop subordinate team leaders and employees
- Ensure effective workforce, resource, shift, and contingency planning
- Take responsibility for the quality, delivery performance, and costs of logistics services
- Manage goods receipt, warehousing, order picking, disposal, and shipping activities
- Ensure accurate inventory management, including stock adjustments and physical inventories
- Ensure the operational safety and availability of technical logistics systems, including high-bay, small-parts, basement, and outdoor warehouses, as well as robotic and automated systems
- Continuously improve logistics processes with regard to Lean Management, quality, and efficiency
- Support the resolution of quality issues and participate in relevant projects
- Evaluate, procure, and commission capital equipment, operating resources, and consumable materials
- Plan and manage cost-centre and investment budgets
- Ensure compliance with and further development of HSSE requirements, risk assessments, statutory requirements, ISO standards, and internal policies
- Collaborate with internal departments and external suppliers and service providers
Education
- Completed technical or logistics vocational training, such as a Swiss Federal VET Diploma in Logistics or an equivalent qualification
- Advanced professional qualification in logistics is preferred
Required Professional Experience
- At least five years of professional experience in an international industrial, commercial, or logistics company
- At least five years of leadership experience in an industrial environment
- Experience leading larger operational teams and subordinate management levels
- Strong experience in process optimisation, Lean Management, and project work
- Experience with automated warehouse and logistics systems is an advantage
Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of Lean Management, Lean Six Sigma, process optimisation, or Operational Excellence
- Very good knowledge of logistics and warehouse processes
- Very good SAP knowledge, particularly in SD, MM, PP, EWM, and BI
- Experience with HSSE requirements, risk assessments, and relevant ISO standards
- Knowledge of inventory management, physical inventories, and legally compliant documentation
- Experience planning and managing operating and investment budgets
