For one of our clients, a global pioneer in medical diagnostics, we are currently looking for an MSAT PPS Engineer – Precision Dispensing & Sensor Manufacturing.
Manufacturing Science & Technology (MSAT) serves as the global enabling function for the Sensors & Cartridges (S&C) network. Our mandate spans from supporting early-stage concept ideas to delivering seamless design transfers into routine manufacturing and driving sustainable product care across the entire product lifecycle.
We are organized into technology areas and multidisciplinary Squads supported by Chapters. By combining deep technical expertise, continuous learning, and systems thinking, we constantly improve manufacturing operations across our global network. Our daily collaboration is grounded in four core values: Courage, Transparency, Open-Mindedness, and a Can-Do Attitude.
Based at our site in Rotkreuz, this role sits within the Product & Process Science (PPS) group. You will apply hands-on precision dispensing expertise directly where it matters most: on the production floor, working shoulder-to-shoulder with process engineers, shift operators, and quality teams to stabilize processes, minimize scrap, and boost product quality.
...
General Information:
- Start date: February-April 2027
- Duration: 1 year
- Contract type: Temporary contract via Randstad (employment)
- Extension: very likely
- Work location: Rotkreuz
- Workload: 100%
- Home Office: rather not possible
- Working hours: standard
Tasks & Responsibilities:
- Conduct on-the-ground investigations across the manufacturing line to identify root causes of WIP yield loss, downtime, and dispensing-related deviations; design and execute concrete remediation plans.
- Spend consistent, hands-on time on the production floor observing multi-shift runs, partnering closely with operators and shift leads, and upskilling staff from an engineering perspective.
- Fine-tune, characterize, and troubleshoot multi-platform automated dispensing equipment, with an emphasis on low-viscosity fluid behavior, surface interaction, and tight tolerances.
- Plan, run, and evaluate production-line trials, applying structured problem-solving (e.g., DOE, root-cause methodology) to stabilize fluid deposition and process repeatability.
- Analyze sensor production and quality control data to track variability, spot drifting parameters early, and prove the statistical effectiveness of corrective actions.
- Act as the technical translator between equipment vendors, shop-floor operators, Process Engineering, Quality Assurance, and Regulatory Compliance to implement sustainable change controls.
Must Haves:
- Deep Precision Dispensing Expertise (Min. 5+ Years). Practical, engineering-level experience in automated precision dispensing or fluid deposition, ideally with strong hands-on capability handling low-viscosity fluids. You have directly set up, fine-tuned, characterized, and troubleshot dispensing platforms (e.g., as a process development engineer, field application specialist, or vendor-facing integration expert).
- A track record of turning troubleshooting into verifiable production improvements (e.g., scrap reduction, cycle-time stabilization, yield improvements) backed by data.
- You thrive at the machine side, enjoy working directly with operators across shifts, and communicate comfortably in an active manufacturing environment.
- A completed technical degree (BSc/MSc in Process, Mechanical, Chemical, Materials, or Biomedical Engineering) or a completed vocational/technical qualification backed by robust, relevant engineering-level experience. Proven technical competence and practical problem-solving capability take precedence over formal titles.
- Confident using root-cause analysis, basic statistical methods, and structured experimentation to make evidence-based decisions.
- Solid understanding of material properties, dispensing parameters and equipment condition.
- Languages: Fluent English (working project language) combined with German skills at a minimum B2 level to communicate smoothly with shop-floor teams.
Nice to Haves:
- Experience within Life Sciences, Medical Devices, Diagnostics, or another highly regulated GxP/GMP manufacturing setting.
- Familiarity with sensor manufacturing (e.g., electrochemical/analytical sensors, microassembly, functional coating, or cartridge assembly).
- Experience conducting non-conformity/deviation investigations, CAPAs, and technical change-control documentation.
- Hands-on familiarity with data tools for statistical process monitoring and data-driven troubleshooting.
- Prior background working for or closely interfacing with precision dispensing equipment vendors or automated system integrators.
