About the job:

In this role you will play a key role in ensuring the seamless integration of hardware and software components to guarantee optimal instrument functionality. You will support the entire lifecycle of the instrument – from the concept phase, development, and validation, through to market launch and maintenance. In this position, you will contribute significantly to ensuring that all system components work together flawlessly, using your expertise to ensure that the final product meets the highest quality and performance standards. Your work forms the foundation for the successful realization of modern diagnostic and analytical instruments, which are indispensable in a wide range of applications and industries.

The Perfect Candidate holds a technical/scientific background (B.Sc. or completed apprenticeship) backed by 1–3 years of laboratory experience, including vocational training. They bring foundational expertise in systems engineering—specifically understanding the interplay between mechanics, electronics, and software in instrument development—alongside strong proficiency in statistical data analysis. Fluency in English and a solid command of German, combined with exposure to medical device development or tools like Python, JMP, and Azure DevOps, make them a perfect fit.

Tasks & Responsibilities:

  • Ensure seamless collaboration between hardware and software components, driving integration activities throughout the entire lifecycle of the instrument.
  • Independently or with minimal support, plan, execute, and document integration activities such as feasibility studies, testing and troubleshooting.
  • Develop and verify test methods for instrument testing, maintain and execute complex test cases, and ensure formal testing of instrument functionality.
  • Support and execute troubleshooting and root cause analysis for instrument issues.
  • Apply statistical methods and data analysis using software tools to evaluate test results, identify trends and correlations, interpret findings, and generate reports that inform decision-making
  • Foster a culture of open communication and collaboration, bringing fresh ideas to the table, encouraging innovation, and supporting continuous improvement.

Must Haves:

  • Apprenticeship as a Chemical Laboratory Technician/ Biotechnologist, or a B.Sc. degree (or higher) in a relevant technical or scientific field, combined with strong analytical thinking skills.
  • 1–3 years of experience in a laboratory environment (experience gained during an apprenticeship or vocational training is fully credited)
  • Foundational knowledge of systems engineering and understanding of interactions between mechanical, electronic, and software components in instrument development.
  • Proficiency in intermediate to advanced statistical methods and software tools for data analysis, evaluation, and interpretation.
  • Fluent English

Nice to Haves:

  • Initial professional experience in the field of medical device development
  • Knowledge of the following tools and IT systems is an advantage but not mandatory: Python, JMP, Azure DevOps, Retina
  • German sills
