At the Basel Drug Substance site, we produce 3 technologies across two Manufacturing Units—Monoclonal Antibody (MAB) in MU B95, Antibody Drug Conjugates (ADCs), and Single Use Technology (SUT) in MU B91—manufacturing high-quality active pharmaceutical ingredients to supply patients worldwide with medicines.
The Manufacturing Lab Team offers you the opportunity to independently handle diverse and demanding tasks in a biological production environment.
Become part of our team and actively contribute to the development and manufacturing of innovative medicines by participating in the following processes: As a support unit, you will support the WCB (= Working Cell Bank) thawing process. You will guide and advise cross-functional teams on the correct technical execution of the E2E (= End-to-End) process for process samples and their analyses in the production buildings. You will handle deviations related to the sample management process and work on new and existing risk analyses. As part of CAPA measures, you will implement continuous improvement processes and participate in inspection management. You will serve as part of the first-level support for your own team and external interfaces regarding sample management process inquiries.
The ideal candidate:
Holds a completed vocational degree as a laboratory technician or pharmaceutical technologist, or a Bachelor's degree in a natural science or technical field, alongside at least 3 years of experience in pharmaceutical laboratory work. The candidate brings solid GMP knowledge, operates confidently with laboratory IT systems, and stands out through a hands-on, operational mindset, team spirit, flexibility, and reliability in a dynamic environment.
Tasks & Responsibilities:
- Independent development and optimization of laboratory activities in biotechnological active ingredient production within a GMP environment
- Support of production interfaces to ensure smooth process workflows and analysis-based troubleshooting support to meet laboratory production requirements
- Operation and maintenance of various laboratory devices and instruments
- Management and transport of samples (Sample Management)
- Material management in laboratory areas and ensuring laboratory readiness
- Maintenance of master data in systems such as sLIMS, Unilab, and MES
- Ensuring WCB management, thawing, and cultivation in the seed lab
- Independent handling of changes, deviations, and CAPAs, as well as review and approval of documents in the QMS
- Participation in internal and external inspections/audits
- Support with continuous improvement measures and process optimizations
Must Haves:
- Completed vocational training as a laboratory technician / pharmaceutical technologist or a Bachelor's degree in a technical or natural science field, ideally in biotechnology or biology
- At least 3 years of professional experience in laboratory work within a pharmaceutical environment
- Experience with GMP (and GMP documentation)
- Confident handling of IT systems and laboratory software (e.g., LIMS, Unilab) as well as MES is an advantage
- Readiness for on-call duty (Pikettdienst) every 6–8 weeks
- Fluent in German; English skills are an advantage
- Flexibility, adaptability, and reliability when executing tasks in a dynamic environment with shifting priorities
