Key Responsibilities
- Architect and implement complex infrastructure solutions on Microsoft Azure, with a focus on AKS, DMZ, firewall policies, and Swiss region-specific restrictions.
- Lead the transition of Istio-based service mesh to a modern, Helm/Helm Charts-driven deployment model.
- Review and challenge existing Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) implementations using Terraform, ensuring compliance, scalability, and best practices.
- Provide architectural guidance on networking, firewall rules, and communication flows between on-premises UBS systems and Azure public cloud.
- Act as a DevSecOps consultant, advising on secure deployment patterns, group policies, and governance.
- Coach and mentor engineering teams, offering senior-level consultancy on VMs, policies, DevOps pipelines, and automation.
Must-Have Skills
- Proven experience building and managing large-scale Azure cloud environments.
- Deep expertise in:
- Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS)
- Terraform & IaC best practices
- Service Mesh (Istio) and its modern alternatives (Very important!!!)
- DMZ, firewall rules, and group policies
- DevOps tooling and CI/CD pipelines
Strong understanding of networking principles, security compliance, and cloud governance.Ability to review code, challenge architectural decisions, and drive improvements.Nice-to-Have Skills- Experience with:
- Ansible, Unix, Shell scripting
- Python for automation and tooling
Familiarity with deployment tooling and onboarding processes in regulated environments. Soft Skills- Strong communicator with the confidence to challenge assumptions and drive change.
- Strategic thinker with the ability to zoom out and see the big picture, while also diving deep into technical details.
- Comfortable working in consultative, coaching, and delivery-focused capacities.
