About the job:
As a Product Safety Specialist you will be a member of our global unit "Diagnostics Product Sustainability & Compliance". The Compliance Operations department is responsible for the data and processes within Diagnostics Quality & Regulatory that enable a chemical and environmentally compliant and sustainable development, transport/handling, marketing and disposal of all client’s products (the so-called product life cycle). This means that our client is not only irreplaceable in ensuring compliance in the interests of their patients, but also pursuing the goal of significantly and sustainably reducing the environmental impact of all their products and services.
Your Profile:
- Completed studies in environmental sciences, engineering, natural sciences, material sciences, information sciences or comparable.
- Proven experience in the electronics, (medical) device or automotive industry in the product safety environment (EH&S data management, material declaration, product stewardship).
- Sound understanding of the chemical composition of materials, especially those used in electronics, devices and packaging.
- Experience with chemical legislations (e.g. REACH, RoHS, POP, Cal. Prop 65, TSCA), and Extended Producer Responsibility Obligations (Packaging, Batteries and WEEE legislation).
Tasks & Responsibilities:
- Responsible for comprehensive and effective Data Management of big datasets for chemical legislation (e.g. REACH, RoHS, POP, Cal. Prop 65, TSCA), and Extended Producer
- Responsibility Obligations (Packaging, Batteries and WEEE legislation) within SAP EH&S(M) and in future, S/4HANA ensuring Compliance and Sustainability of electronic devices
- Maintain, develop, and improve high-performance automated data solutions (e.g. using Robotics Process Automation (RPA), Python, Scripts etc.)
- Ensuring data conformity, quality and integrity (according to data model); as well as carrying out plausibility checks
- Eliminate waste by radically simplifying processes with an emphasis on automating redundant manual processes and foster automated report creation
- Interacting directly with suppliers, internal customers, and subject matter experts to ensure thorough evaluation and accuracy of EH&S Data
- Managing EH&S Compliance Assessments for new Product Launches and Product Updates as well as managing Material Changes with impact to chemical Compliance.
- Contact person (1st level support) for Data Requests and Reports from Customers.

Must-Haves:
- Masters degree in in environmental sciences, engineering, natural sciences, material sciences, information sciences or comparable

- Sound understanding of the chemical composition of materials, especially those used in electronics, devices and packaging
- Experience with chemical legislations (e.g. REACH, RoHS, POP, Cal. Prop 65, TSCA), and Extended Producer Responsibility Obligations (Packaging, Batteries and WEEE legislation)
- Preferably you have very good knowledge of (global) chemical regulatory legislation (e.g. REACH, RoHS, POP, Cal. Prop 65, TSCA), and Extended Producer Responsibility Obligations (Packaging, Batteries and WEEE legislation)
- You have an affinity for handling large amounts of data, process automation and a preference for data science for Supplier Governance and Oversight
- Understanding of system and data management, to effectively manage material declarations and compliance documentation
- Your affinity for handling large amounts of data and your preference for data science characterize you
- Negotiation skills and efficient communication characterize you. You are able to skillfully place requests for material information
- You are able to build and maintain trusting and profitable relationships with important suppliers
- Experience and expertise in agile project management or working in an agile environment
- Relevant experience working with applicable processes and IT solutions managing big datasets of chemical compliance data in the electronics, (medical) device or automotive industry
- Relevant experience working with automation tools, e.g. Robotics Process Automation (RPA), Python, Scripts
- Highly competent in MS office and/ or Google Suite applications
- Fluent in English - verbal and written
