Location: Regensdorf
No remote work possible
Pensum: 50-100% possible (candidate will decide)
Contract: Freelance or Temp
Purpose of the Role
Take over day-to-day technical responsibility for our rail measurement trolley — a specialized mechatronic system...
Act as the first technical point of contact for Support, Production, and Order Fulfillment, handling technical drawings, small fixes, and small construction changes, while larger engineering work remains with the engineering department.
Key Responsibilities
Technical documentation & drawings
•Own and maintain the technical drawings for the rail measurement trolley and its components.
•Create, update, and release drawings in SolidWorks (parts, assemblies, simple sheet-metal and machined parts).
•Maintain simple cable/connection drawings in EPlan (general cable drawing knowledge is sufficient; no advanced planning or panel engineering required).
•Ensure drawing revisions, part numbers, and BOM data are consistent and up to date and in sync with our ERP.
•General familiarity with ERP/PLM-style tools is sufficient; deep ERP expertise is not required.
Technical support for internal teams (main responsibility)
•Act as the primary technical contact for Support (customer issues), Production (build and assembly questions), and Order Fulfillment (configuration and compatibility checks).
•For customer-reported issues: assess the problem by reviewing technical drawings or inspecting physical components/trolleys, and determine root cause and remedy.
•For customized or customer-specific systems: check mechanical compatibility against existing components and drawings before order confirmation.
•Provide clear, practical answers and documentation to colleagues in a timely manner.
Small fixes & improvements
•Perform small construction changes and design improvements on mechanical and simple mechatronic elements (e. g. , brackets, mounting solutions, tolerances, minor part substitutions).
•Build, test, and verify prototypes or modification samples as needed.
•Provide holistic analysis and recommendations for the engineering concept for new developments based on the gained understanding.
Required Skills & Experience
•Completed technical apprenticeship (mechanic, mechatronics technician, technical draftsman) or equivalent qualification.
•Solid, hands-on SolidWorks experience (2D drawings and 3D modelling of parts and assemblies).
•Basic/general EPlan (or equivalent tool) knowledge (simple schematics and cable drawings).
•Experience with an ERP system (article/BOM maintenance) is beneficial.
•Good understanding of mechanical engineering fundamentals
•Basic understanding of mechatronic systems (sensors, wiring, simple electrical assemblies, and batteries)
•Practical workshop affinity: able to inspect, measure, and test physical components and assemblies.
•German and English are required
Soft Skills
•Strong communication skills; enjoys being the go-to person for non-technical colleagues and customer-facing teams.
•Service-oriented mindset with pragmatism: finds simple, robust solutions quickly.
•Structured and reliable documentation habits.
•Able to work independently and prioritize multiple requests from different teams
