About the role:
As a Senior Plastic Design Engineer, you will lead the development of high-precision plastic consumables and mechanical components, taking innovative liquid handling tools from early ideation through to series production.
Tasks & Responsibilities:
- Design individual components and assemblies, guiding them from initial concept through production launch.
- Develop mechanical plastic solutions for our liquid handling products—focusing on consumables and injection molding—and integrate them into larger systems.
- Plan and design plastic components from ideation to series production, providing expert support in materials, tooling, and manufacturing technologies.
- Optimize and simulate injection-molded parts and manufacturing processes.
- Create detailed manufacturing documentation, including engineering drawings, bill of materials (BOMs), and assembly instructions.
- Source materials and procure components for functional prototypes.
- Collaborate closely with internal teams, external partners, suppliers, and service providers.
Requirements:
- Education: Technical studies (University of Applied Sciences / Fachhochschule) or Certified Technician in Mechanical Engineering with a focus on plastics technology, OR completed vocational training (draftsman/designer/mechanic) with extensive practical experience.
- Experience: Several years of professional experience as a development engineer in plastics.
- Technical Focus: Strong, hands-on expertise in the development of injection-molded parts and tool design.
- CAD: Proficient 3D CAD skills, ideally with SolidWorks.
- Languages: German (C1) and English (B2–C1) required.
- Hands-on mentality with enthusiasm for creative solutions and innovative products.
