Contract Duration: October 1, 2026 – March 1, 2027Senior Test Manager (Mainframe-to-Java Migration)
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Test Manager with 15+ years of experience to define, drive, and execute a comprehensive testing strategy for a complex software transformation. In this role, you will take full ownership of quality assurance as we modernize legacy mainframe Assembler applications into a modern Java/SQL ecosystem hosted on Linux. Operating within an Agile/SAFe framework, you will orchestrate global testing operations spanning teams in Switzerland, Poland, and India, serving as the strategic quality lead across the entire project lifecycle.
Your Responsibilities
Test Concept & Strategy: Develop and document a high-impact testing strategy tailored for legacy Assembler-to-Java/SQL refactoring. Define and integrate multi-layered testing frameworks (unit, functional, and automated comparison testing) alongside modern QA tooling (e.g., Xray).
Test Execution Orchestration: Direct and manage testing activities across all deployment phases—including test planning, environmental provisioning, test execution, and progress tracking—ensuring strict alignment with quality gates and deadlines.
Global Team Leadership: Lead, coach, and scale a dedicated test management team across distributed locations (Switzerland, Poland, India). Establish a culture of engineering excellence, assess staffing requirements, and support onboarding as project demands grow.
Stakeholder Alignment & Reporting: Serve as the primary quality liaison to architects, development leads, and senior project managers. Produce transparent metrics, defect trends, test plans, and status reports to maintain alignment across leadership.
Continuous Quality Improvement: Monitor overall quality metrics, evaluate process bottlenecks, and introduce continuous QA automation and efficiency enhancements across distributed Agile/SAFe release trains.
What You Bring to the Team
Experience: 15+ years of proven experience as a Senior Test Manager directing complex, large-scale software quality initiatives.
Domain & Migration Expertise: Deep familiarity with legacy modernization projects, specifically transitioning from mainframe Assembler environments to distributed Java/SQL architectures on Linux.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
Framework Mastery: Expert knowledge of unit and functional testing methodologies, test management tools (Xray, Jira), and global SAFe/Agile delivery structures.
Global Leadership & Communication: Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills with a track record of leading distributed teams across time zones and engaging effectively with senior stakeholders.
Are you ready to lead a critical legacy modernization program and shape software quality at scale? We look forward to receiving your application! Please submit your CV detailing your test management experience in legacy migration projects.
